The BIRD Clinic Veterinary Corporation, founded in 1987 by Dr. Larry Nemetz, is a specialty avian practice dedicated to the advanced diagnostics, treatment, and prevention of medical conditions in pet birds. Located in Orange, California, it is one of a limited number of clinics in the U.S. that exclusively treats pet birds. The clinic offers a wide range of services, including wellness exams, beak reconstructive surgery, radiology, endoscopy, microsurgical procedures, behavioral consultations, and DNA sexing. Dr. Nemetz has pioneered techniques in correcting malocclusions, fractures, and composite prosthetics. The clinic is equipped with advanced diagnostics, surgical treatments, and veterinary care using breakthrough technologies. Dr. Nemetz was the first to have a digital x-ray machine that he helped develop and also developed a surgical procedure for removing foreign bodies using endoscopic techniques. The facility features three exam rooms, plus rooms for radiology, surgery, and hospitalization, specifically designed for treating birds. The clinic also focuses on educating bird owners about avian care, with students from around the world coming to learn and intern. Dr. Nemetz graduated from Purdue University Veterinary School in Indiana and sees about 90 different species of birds and parrots on average, including ducks and poultry. He has been exposed to exotic birds since the age of four and got his first pet bird at the age of six.
